More than 35 people from the local community and environmental organizations joined
Headington Repair Café at Bullingdon Community centre on Tuesday 27th January to celebrate ten years of fixing with a special ‘Fix-it’ Birthday cake.

Volunteers have been meeting nearly every week over this long period, fixing the wide
variety of electrical and household items brought to them, from lamps to vacuum cleaners.

Their success rate is over 60%. Alan, who helped start the café, says his keyboard, which
was fixed ten years ago, is still going strong! Over the course of last year they saved 300Kg
from landfill, so, at that rate, ten years would mean 3,000 Kg - or 3 tonnes of waste!

‘We help save the planet and we have fun while we’re doing it’, said one of the fixers.

The repair café is open every Tuesday from 10 to 12 noon at Bullingdon Community Centre, Peat Moors Headington Oxford OX3 7HS. Just drop in: it’s free.

Here’s to the Repair Café continuing for another ten years!
